RATHMELL PARISH MEETING, held Tuesday 27th April 2010 in the Reading Room
Mr. Ian Wright chaired the meeting, welcoming 18 parishioners.
With Messrs Wright and Crabtree not standing for re-election to Ribble Banks Parish Council, Mr.Brendon Bell and Mr. David Rawsthorne were appointed to represent Rathmell.
For insurance purposes Rathmell village assets were set at – seat outside Reading Room £600 – barrows and gardening tools £100 – village signs and war memorial to be set by Ribble Banks.
David Pemberton announced he was standing down as the charities trustee, Brendis Adshead was appointed in his place. The whole meeting supported a vote of thanks to David for his diligent and hard work over the past years.
John Harrison is the only person at present doing any maintenance work on Back Lane. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. The barrows and tools are to be stored in the Churchyard store and Clarice Howorth’s shed, easily accessible to volunteers.
Ribble Banks Parish Council is now responsible for the insurance and maintenance of the village car park.
Ribble Banks Parish Council did not support the retention of the redundant telephone box despite the survey of parishioners showing over 90 for and 2 against. Rosemary Rees is seeking ways forward to retain the box and is to be invited to speak at a future meeting.
Ron Stone informed the meeting that Ribble Banks Parish Council did not support a regular sum from the precept to go to the Reading Room to pay for essential costs such as council tax , water rate, electricity, insurance and cleaning. Both support and opposition was expressed to the idea.
